Kriti Sanon

Kriti Sanon (born 27 July 1990) is an Indian model and film actress. After a successful modeling career, she made her acting debut with Sukumar's Telugu psychological thriller film 1: Nenokkadine, and subsequently made her Bollywood debut in Sabbir Khan's commercially successful action-romance film Heropanti.

Early life and background

Sanon was born on 27 July 1990 in New Delhi, India. Her father, Rahul Sanon, is a Chartered Accountant, while her mother, Geeta Sanon, is an Associate Professor at Delhi University. She has one sibling, Nupur. Sanon did her schooling from Delhi Public School, R K Puram and completed Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication, from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida.


Sanon made her acting debut in 2014, with Sukumar's Telugu film 1: Nenokkadine, a psychological thriller, in which she played the role of Sameera opposite Mahesh Babu. Despite the initial hype, the film generated mixed reviews from critics and was a commercial failure. For her performance however, Sanon garnered positive to mixed reviews, with a The Times of India critic saying she "looks pretty" and "acts well". Furthermore, a reviewer at was a bit more neutral, saying she "looks gorgeous", though her performance is "okay".

Later that year, Sanon made her Hindi film debut with Sabbir Khan's action-romance film Heropanti, opposite newcomer Tiger Shroff. Despite only receiving mixed reviews from most prominent critics, the film proved to be a commercial success at the Indian box office. Sanon was generally appreciated for her performance, with film critic Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama saying she "looks gorgeous and handles her part with certainty and confidence" and that she "has the trappings of a star", whereas Rajeev Masand said she "looks lovely and makes an impression despite her harebrained role". Srijana Das of The Times of India, however, criticized her emoting, calling it "more cheesy than sharp." For her performance, Sanon received a nomination at the Big Life OK Now Awards, held in June 2014.

Upcoming projects

As of July 2014, Sanon has began shooting for her second Telugu film opposite Naga Chaitanya, which is to be directed by Sudheer Varma. Sanon has also signed Prabhu Deva's Hindi action comedy film Singh Is Bling, opposite Akshay Kumar, in which she will be enacting the role of a dancer. Slated to release on 31 July 2015, Sanon has taken salsa dance classes in preparation for her role. Sanon will begin work on the film in November 2014.

Other work

In addition to acting, Sanon is an active celebrity endorser for several brands and products, including the coconut hair oil brand, Parachute Jasmine and a cola brand, among others. In July 2014, Sanon launched Tissot's Quickster Football watch in multiple cities in India. While promoting the watch in Jaipur, Sanon said that "with the football fever at its peak now, I guess it is the most suited watch that I could flaunt". Sanon also mentioned that it's main purpose is to time football matches.
