Shruthi (born 29 October 1991), known by her stage nameHariprriya, is an Indian film actress, model and Bharatanatyamdancer from Chikkaballapura, Karnataka. She works in theSouth Indian cinema.
Early life
Hariprriya was born as Shruthi in Chikkaballapura,Karnataka. She studied at Vidya Mandir and completed herPre-University Course (PUC). Due to her brother, she moved toBangalore, where she learned Bharatanatyam and received actingassignments. Her grandfather was a theatre personality, whom she thenfollowed as an actress.
Career
Hariprriya used to participate in cultural programmes. When she wasstudying in 12th class, director Richard Castelino saw stills of herfrom the programmes and offered her the female lead role in the Tulufilm Badi. She made her Kannada film debut inManasugula Mathu Madhura (2008), following which she was part ofunsuccessful ventures such as Vasanthakala. Her performance inthe political satire Kallara Santhe (2009) earned her a Filmfarenomination for Best Kannada actress, while her next film CheluveyeNinne Nodalu released to rave reviews, makingHaripriya popular in Karnataka. In 2010, she also forayed intothe Tamil and Telugu film industries with KanagavelKaaka, and Bhumika Chawla's maiden production,Thakita Thakita, respectively, with the latter emerging a moderatesuccess. After that, she become busy with Tamil and Teluguprojects, working on Cheran's Muran in Tamil and Pilla Zamindar inTelugu. She was also part of the political dramaMukhyamantri I Love You, produced in 2008, which has not beenreleased.
In 2012, Hariprriya debuted in Malayalam with ThiruvambadiThampan. In her third Telugu film Abbayi Class Ammayi Massshe played a call girl and she did a two week longworkshop to get into the character. She has completed thefilm Ranatantra in Kannada. In Telugu, she is shooting forGalata and in Tamil, for Vaaraayo Vennilaave.She has also signed up Eee Varsham Sakshiga in which she plays SeethaMahalakshmi who, she said, "is modern, yet has a traditional outlook" and the Malayalam film Bhadrasanam, a sequel to the popularAnandabhadram in which she was said to play an airhostess who isalso a medical college student.
